It’s true, there is snow in Arizona…and a lot of it in 2008 !
The Arizona Snowbowl is having a stellar winter season, so it was time to round up the AZ posse and get busy. A foot of fresh fell on Christmas night, so after a great day with the family celebrating the holiday, it was time to slash some pow in The Grand Canyon State.
A couple of us rolled up the night before in the blizzard conditions to bypass possible road closures the next morning on the I-17 North. There was no way we were going to let road issues block our plans for “FIRST CHAIR.” The rest of the crew made the mad dash out of Phoenix at 5:30 AM, coffee and stoke in hand.
The first chair plan worked out perfectly as we found ourselves in the lift line at 8AM sharp, ready for the 9AM start. Around 8:45 ski patrol showed up and said the lift was delayed for mechanical reasons, so we “..should go ride the park for awhile..”. After a loud round of laughs at that statement, he got a clue and made his merry way onto whatever he was up to next.
We kept chillin, the lift started up at 9:30, we loaded up with big smiles on our faces and started what would be one of our best pow days at The Bowl ever.
