Blotto: AZ to Midwest

K for Keegan

The Midwest…third mission for 2009. All good by me…more cement, metal, grimey snow, pollution, dilapidated bridges, nice folks, low bust ratio…all things ‘middle of the Lower 48.’

Keegan and Aaron called late Tuesday night saying the mission was on…I had already made plans for another shred day in AZ on Wed morning…not to worry, shred till early afternoon, then drive back down to Phoenix and catch a PM flight to our destination.

Snowbowl was fun, snow started to turn real nice (we were calling it champagne slush) around 11, snowboarders easily out-numbered the skiers, Rudy was hyped to get his 7th day of the year on snow…A FULL WEEK he called it.

When in doubt, call the Mobil Shredding Unit out…dial x0352 and order up drop-in ramps, lights, generator, propane, torch, shovels and trash cans. We deliver.

Scenic shot from the drive back into Phoenix. The clouds weren’t as kickin’ as two days ago. O well.

Getting into the Midwest was no problem…couldn’t say that was the story shortly after I arrived though…a foot of snow dropped into the region and grid locked every form of transportation to, from and around the city.
The new snow was definitely a headache because traffic was a virtual standstill from one county to the next…but it was also a blessing that it opened up a lot more possibilities for shredding. With all the new snow we managed at least two obstacles per day during the 72-hour stint with these radical dudes.
The third Midwest mission of the season is complete…now it’s back to Arizona for a quick re-gear and plane flight to Alaska.

Check in with ya’ll from the Southeast region of the Final Frontier.

Peace, BLOTTO

Lucky for us, we got the phone call that some fresh snow was on the way

The Gear Van

Keegan attempting to give Aaron a courtesy wipe (it was snowing a lot and clogging up the wind screen wipers).

We were finishing up shooting on Day 2 when we drove past this WHITE CASTLE !!! Talk about one hyped crew to chow down some ‘sliders’…we felt like Harold and Kumar.

Aaron opted out on the ‘slider’ program and went with the very basic water and fries

“…uhhhh, I shouldn’t have eaten all those White Castle burgers…”

Here’s a picture of Aaron driving the van with Keegan sitting shot gun…pretty exciting eh ?

This photo has nothing to do with anything except the fact that Aaron is holding Keegan’s board and has a half-expression on his face.

Introducing Gabe. He likes coffee, snowboarding and breakfast at the Holiday Inn Express.
